Bilge Pump Hose

Post by kru1 » Wed Jun 19, 2013 4:40 pm

Where do you get the hoses for the Attwood Tsunami? It is 1 1/8" inner diameter. I bought 1 1/4" bilge pump hose and that was too big. I went to Lowes on MLK and then Locke in Fayetteville. Neither had it.

I bought some cheap 1" radiator hose and I can force it over, but it is black, heavy, and ugly.

Thanks,
kru

Check your marine dealers, Academy Sports, Gander Mountain, Walmart, or any other store that carries the pumps.

Wally World only sold kits with the 500 pump and I didn't want those. They didn't sell hoses separately.

We don't have any of those other stores in NWA.

Check with some of the larger hardware (Ace, etc.) stores as some of them carry boating supplies in addition to a variety of hoses.

Where's the best place for thruhull? I was thinking straight out back so she looks like a jet boat! I

BS! Take your pump to Lowe's or home depot. Go to the aisle where they have all of the clear plastic tubing. Find the size it doesn't quite want to fit in. But X feet. Done!

While you are there, buy an adaptor with a threads on one end and push-fit on the other. Buy a threaded cap (the open-ended kind for compression fittings) to fit it, then go over the the electrical aisle and find the large-diamter steel nut they use to hold conduit in electrical boxes that fits the thread also.

tubing + through-hull fitting under $15 all in one place, and you know it all fits. I've got the whole saw you need to make the right size hole in the royalex.

Go right ahead and run your hose all 5' of it so you can do that. Looks cool but it minimizes the efficiency of the pump.

Get it to one side or the other in the straightest line possible. And those numbers don't allow for lifting the fluid up and out which is gonna be around 30 inches or so. :twocents:

Looking cool is rarely efficient.

What do you mean? I always look cool on the river and am pretty darn efficient.

Thanks for the advice,

Kru- Wild goose chase at Cabellas! They sent me to their off site maintenance shop only to be told they don't carry anything that big. So they said order it online.

Kru- just ordered from Cabbellas online black smooth bore no kink $2.19 per foot. I ordered 10 feet so probably enough for both our boats.

Thanks Mike,

If I can't find anything before then I may hit you up for your extra. I do have a dual pump system so I will need about 4 feet I think?
