Stern Wheeler boat in NLR ALERT!!!!!!!

Post by we66erno1 » Tue Jun 18, 2013 10:11 pm

Got to surf my SUP behind the Mark Twain today on the Arkansas river, in the middle of downtown. This boat is a true stern wheel paddle boat. Creates about 6-9 waves that you can legally surf! They roll out every day at 3pm and 7pm.

Before you attempt this awesome, dynamic feature; word to the wise! Department of Homeland Security has created a law that says you cannot come within 50ft of a passenger vessel. Give it plenty of room, so as not to upset law enforcement, the owners/pilot of the boat, or to ruin it for me(or anyone else with the gusto to try it)! Been talking with the owner for the past few weeks and today was the first trial run. If we keep it safe and inside the law, we all have a place to play during the week. Waves aren't big enough for by tricks, but its better then nothing.

I'll be down there tomorrow with my kayak, instead of my SUP. The current is still moving at a good clip, which makes it hard to catch back up once you flush out, with a single blade.

The boat only goes out when there is paid passengers, so it's a crap shoot if it goes out. But t normally does on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Email me if you want more info before venturing out to try it. gopaddle@whitewaterporndotcom

This is the best thing to happen to ACC since rockport. Park and play, up and down the river!

Video coming soon. Who wants to come tomorrow? No shuttle needed! Roll is mandatory though, cause it'd suck to swim down to Pine Bluff with how fast the current is still going.

At least it isn't coal barges on the Missisippi. Or tankers on the Gulf Coast. Yet.
