SELF CREEK VIDEO: FIRST DESCENT (?)

Four of us paddled Self Creek on 6/2/13 from Highway 84 near Lodi to Palestine Road which is a little north of Highway 70. Has anyone else paddled this creek?

I talked to the landowner adjacent to the creek on the upstream side of Hwy. 84 a little over a year ago and got permission to launch from her property. Unfortunately, it appears the elderly lady may no longer be with us since the place is looking less used. As prearranged, I left a note on her door, but it was still there at the end of the day; the storm door was blocked shut with a flower pot. I hope she was just out for the day.

My helmet cam remote control's battery died shortly after we launched and I bungled the manual recording switch for a big part of the run, the part with the biggest rapids wouldn't you know. I didn't adjust the camera for the harsh lighting conditions, making the exposure poor a lot of the time. Heck, what did you expect? I'm still learning how to use the remote for my VCR. As the song says "You can always get it right next time."
