Rush-Buffalo City Trip Report
Rush-Buffalo City Trip Report
Some of our gear;
Old Town Discovery 179
Trek 10x14 tent
Wife, 2yr old daughter,Zip our 5yr old Aussie and me.
2 ice chest and whole bunch other gear we probably didn't need.
Put in @ Rush 5/25/13 10:30am
Water Level @ Harriet Gauge 4.1 or 950 cfs
Clabber Creek was not strawberry cake but close with a 1000 lb load it was not too bad, we stayed straight no issues except the standing waves close to the bottom of the shoal that came in. The canoe was about 1/3 full of water. A minnow bucket and sponge 5 mins later we were back on the run.
@ 2:30pm We stopped to camp on the first gravel bar(on the far end) on the right just below Big Creek. This is an excellent spot to camp. Good swimming hole and it is shaded all day at the edge of the woods.
Pulled camp on 5/27/13 and was on the run @ 8:30am
Water Level @ Harriet Gauge 3.6 or 680 cfs
Arrived at the mouth about 12:30 pm
My cousin who was in a boat pulled us to the G&F access it was around 1:00pm. Wasn't anyway we could have made it up stream White River was rolling!
GPS stats,
24 miles
Max speed 8.0mh
Avg moving speed 3.5 mh
Moving time 6 hrs 35 mins
We had a blast!!!! Couldn't have asked for better weather or water!!!! Something I did learn with good water and long daylight hours you can make this trip in one day easy especially with a lighter load.
One side note I forgot to turn my GPS on when we launched I think we broke 8mph on Clabber Creek. I turned it on in the pool below Clabber Creek shoal.

Thanks for the report. Gave me a moment of vicarious living. That's quite an average speed. We don't get anywhere near that on our trips, but we spend a lot of time fishing and goofing off.
You come too.

If I weren't looking forward to Ms. Felicia's cooking I'd be mad at you.
You come too.

Yeah, Louis, Deuce is a great sport.
He's also one of those SOB's (Scruffy Open Boaters).
You can't cut them any slack.
Plus I am sure there will be some payback in the future.
But hey, it's all good fun, right?

We launched less than an hour after you did. We had a group of 15. My canoe was a green LLBean Old Town Discovery 169. Three rafts, three tandems and two solo canoes.

We are all afflicted with Cognitive Dissonance. The greater our religious, social, financial or political affiliation, the greater the affliction. We hear what we want to hear. We believe what we want to believe. Truth becomes irrelevant.

Great pictures, I'm pretty sure I seen y'all come by. I think y'all had just arrived at Rush when we set sail if my memory serves me correct. I will have pictures and video hopefully by Monday! I'm having/had a busy week kids have ball games every night!

Are you going to let him talk about you like that? I know what, break his paddle, break his paddle!
I've felt the touch of healing hands, neath the willow trees and birch, cause the water's my religion, and the river is my church. Kenny

Re: Rush-Buffalo City Trip Report
Yes they did.
It was most embarrassing too.
Nice hard eddy-line; I went in like a hero and came out like a zero.
Hannah had the audacity to ask if she could be the one to tell Felicia that I swam. Since I knew she would derive great pleasure from being the first one to tattle on me I acquiesced.
