Water in the creek. More coming and historic cold temperatures. This should be different. :)

It's my fault. Whenever I do a trip something is guaranteed to fall from the sky. :poke2: Now I'm trying to decide which sleeping bag; overkill or underkill. Think I'll go with all of the above since I'm camping out of the truck and not the boat.

For what it is worth. I am in the Tulsa OK area.

I woke up early to get ready for Yoga class.

Went outside to get the paper and it was cold. Sweating outside yesterday, need a coat today.

Really cold now and will be freezing tonight with chances of freezing rain.

My recommendation is bring your cold weather sleeping and boating gear, just in case.

I can't remember the last time a decent water level and nice weather came together for WW School.

I hope Turner Bend's woodshed is full...

Take cold weather gear,if you ain't swimmin'(or wet exiting) you ain't trying hard enough!Only one way to learn and this is the perfect time to do it since you have all the safety and instruction.Enjo :beer2: y!

...Yep. It really looks like a decent AR boating weekend for WW. OK.. Maybe for March or early April but, we'll take it over last year's skunk-fest.

Great season! hope it lasts through June!

Just pay attention when the instructors are talking about hypothermia and if you notice any symptoms don't try to tough them out,let your instructors know.
The instructors will be watching out for you but this is'nt a theme park,it's a wild and scenic river and you know your limations better than they do and they will be busy.If you need to get off the river it is'nt a problem since there are roads nearby and people to pick up anyone who decides not to finish the days instruction.
Wish I was taking a class and swimming the Mulberry again but I get to work this weekend.

Hope everyone had a good day on the river and learned about cool weather paddling. If you're going to paddle whitewater in Arkansas you need good breathable gear and a flexible work schedule.
My most enjoyable days on the rivers have been in midwinter when no other humans were around. The Mulberry is a completely different river in Febuary and the water isn't that much colder.
Today should be warmer with sun.
Wishing I was there,Don

Well, from one who was there - Friday night was wicked cold and wet. Sat boating not much better. Students and instructors worked through the weather and every one on K10 including the instruction team did the mandatory wet exit. Sat evening was better with what I consider to be the best chicken, fish, hush puppies and french fries in Arkansas or any where else for that matter. Sunday morn was foggy but another awesome sausage and pancake breakfast fueled with great coffee got us moving toward the put in. As if by magic the sun broke through, temperature soared to comfortable levels, the Mulberry was running clear at good levels. Students had enough of the cold water and showed their new found skill sets through out the morning with few if any swims and early afternoon take out came way too quickly.

Once again, students, instruction, administration and shuttle teams pulled off a great weekend!

Proving that no matter what we have the best of all worlds going for us, right here in the great state of ARKANSAS!

The fun time at the Ocoee --- would be ours.

Amber hit if memory correct some 7 eddies in one stretch and nailed a bunch of one boat eddies looking smooth as silk then finished up by surfing up Whoop at the top wave till the wave was worn out. I hope it recovered for the next group!
