NW Chapter Scull Creek Cleanup - August 13th AND 20th

Post by Half Ton » Mon Apr 29, 2013 2:53 pm

Well folks, it's probably a good time to get another of our cleanup's in for our Adopted Trail along Scull Creek.

Bob and Johnna have stated that the Arkansas Canoe Club has finally acheived our much deserved credit, for multiple cleanups and stewardship of this portion of trail and creek, with our name on a sign of recognition. :beer2:

I am up for a cleanup at some point in the next month or two. One where we meet at Lucky Lukes on some day after work for a few beverages before hand to compliment aplanning and shuttle session would be the best I think.

Anyone have any suggestions?

So, nobody ever responded to this post....and I never pushed it cause I was busy, busy.

And today, I got a message from fayetteville parks dept that included this:

"
what is your best mailing address for you for Lake Fay WSP and Ar. Canoe Club? BTW, Ar Canoe hasn't worked in 2013, should I make them inactive or are they still in? Maybe they worked under your LFay? Just let me know."

Really, Mr Zisner did participate in the Feb cleanup held by pack rat, UA division of Ag, ozark natural foods, and city of Fay. This means acc technically did 1 cleanup.

Personally, I feel as if the NWA Chapter can do much better than 1 person participating, and can get a cleanup in this week. FYI - I have 2 broke ribs and can't to it by myself, but am willing to participate and keep our ACC sign up on the trail for all of the public to see if we can get a few out for this.

I can't do it on the 15th or 17th, but can any other day.

Please post up and let me know, or i guess we'll have to let this recognition source go.

Let's do it on Wednesday the 21st, unless the rain gods make us reschedule.

We can meet up at Wilson Park after work. Come on out, If you can't make the drive to boatball and want some river karma.

Several, like myself, play boatball on Wednesday night. Any other night of the week works better for me.

Jeff, how about a quicky cleanup on this Tuesday the 13th of August?

If we get a lot, maybe we can shoot for another in September, but if we get a little we come back the following week on the 20th?

I know the entire NWA chapter does not play boatball, as well, so maybe you guys can stick with boatball and some of our other members can come on out. It's kind of late in the game and we have all slacked a bit on this - which is easy enough to do - and we don't have a whole lot of options.

Shoot if we do one on the 13th and the twenty first, then the boatball crew is only on the hook for one and the non boat ballers could pull some weight on the 21st?

Just a thought. Thanks for helping get it figured out, Jeff. Let me know. Thanks!

Ok, Let's do the 13th and the 20th. That will get us good to go for the year with the city folk running the program.

How about meet at lucky Lukes between 5:30-6:00 (hydration session) on the 13th and we can set shuttle for North Street to Wilson Park as a cleanup reach.

Then we can meet at Lucky lukes between 5:30-6:00 on the 20th and set shuttle for North Street to Sycamore Street.

How's that sound?

Hi Y'all. Broke ribs last week and collapsed lung. Went back to hospital for follow up x rays and turns out lung re collapsed.

Gonna be there for 2 or three days now....

Please carry on with scull creek cleanup tomorrow afternoon. It only takes a few to make a difference, and to count as a cleanup.

If you need trash bags, you can get them from the Washington county extension office at 2536 n McConnell ave. 444-1755 givem a call today to make arrangements for trash bag pick up. A little heads up would be helpful (I.e., today).

Keep track of how many people and how many bags of trash and report to Lisa Netherland with city of fayetteville or to me and I will get to her with the info. Thanks.

Bring yourself, some clothes that can get muddy, and maybe some work gloves!

Generally it is always a trail walk and creek wade. Slight chance you might be able to float it today maybe!?

BE CAREFUL WADING :myday" Creek might be muddy and seeing what you are stepping on might be hard.

Let me know who all makes it out and I will put a few stream team, beaver watershed alliance, and keep arkansas beautiful goodies together for y'all.
