Hi!
I work at a camp here in Little Rock and my supervisor has asked me to look into a "Canoe Instructor Class". I am seeing many posts about kayaking (which I love), but was wondering if anyone has any info about canoeing classes in the general area?

Check out this thread for info on a recent crop of ACA certified canoe instructors. The first poster, Walter, was the lead instructor trainer.

Those folks should be able to answer your question or point you in the right direction.

Due to demand from Scouting groups, camps, and other organizations, ACA Canoe Instructors are now able to provide a "Skills Assessment". If you are looking for an ACA Canoe Instructor Workshop/Exam, you will have a hard time finding one without having to travel a long distance. (Sadly just missed the one Bryan mentioned above by about a month.) However, if your goal is to develop your own skills and demonstrate that you (and your staff) are capable of taking camp participants out on the water, that can be done by an certified ACA Canoe instructor at the appropriate level. Most of the canoe instructors here are Level 3 or Level 4 (we do have one Level 5, Walter!) and can provide the skills course/assessment appropriate for flatwater paddling up to Class II Whitewater tripping. http://www.americancanoe.org/?page=Courses_Canoeing" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
