If the Tot' rises to around 6+ ft. on Thursday; would any class 3-3+ boaters find a run down the rarely run Harris creek
interesting? Average gradient 70-90 ft./mile; 6 distinct class 3-3+ technical drops, solid 2+ action from start to finish ; more active than Baker, no large drops other than one- 6 ft. mandatory scout; 7 miles, 4 hr paddle, under normal conditions. Similar to lower Richland @ 3.3; more gradient, frequent rapids, few pools, typical Ark. creekin', willow jungles near the put-in,ect. If an early start is possible, the upper Saline below Shady Lake makes for a great 3 mile warm-up; if you experience problems on the upper Saline, Harris creek could become a future goal. :crossed:
Both runs in one day is unforgettable, nice scenery, easy shuttle. :yahoo:

Thanks Harlan. Your paddling group was probably the last one who careened down HC. Before that, maybe myself, Sabrina and Bruce 3-4 years prior to 10'. As mentioned, rarely paddled; and the creek was probably first run in the mid 80's by the late, great, Phil Bruce; an ACC pioneer.

Possibly. I'm available Thursday. Been hoping for a shot at Crooked Creek (upper Little MO watershed). But never been on Harris. I'm good with early starts, too. In Arkadelphia so only 1 to 1.5 hour away. 870 two four six 5591.
