Will be paddling part of the new Bayou DeView Water Trail on Saturday, April 6. If you would like to join us, meet at 9:30 AM at T Ricks in Hazen (I-40 Exit 193). Will caravan over to Hickson Lake and paddle from there. No shuttle. Plan to be back to vehicles mid-afternoon. Plan to check out large heron/egret rookery.

Stan , Am curious how the trip went. Could you recommend a couple day floats in this area or Cache river. I would like to explore this area a little.Do you think this time of year is ok to float? .Thanks,Bash

We camped at Hick(er)son Lake in Dagmar WMA this weekend and did in and out paddles both days. The water level was great, but it is falling at the moment. We saw lots of snakes and a few weren't mocassins! I saw my 1st Summer Tanagers ever, which was worth the trip right there. The flooded woods were full of Goldfinch and Warblers. The mosquitos were managable with some Repel and Off! We had a great time.

Recommend checking out Debo's response on the "Cache River". She's posted lots of good info. Sorry about not responding sooner. I have been working on the Grassy Lake water trail and have not looked at the ACC message board for some time.

Thanks Stan ,c8mb and debo for the info and links .We look forward to our trip .Plan to go fathers day weekend,may be a bit muggy,buggy and snaky but we're game. Will post an update afterwards. This is a great message board .
