Wow, We've got three new gages on the bayou!

a) east fork just north of the confluence with the middle fork and by hiway 27

b) middle fork on the snow creek section just above the hiway 27 bridge

c) north fork at the granny gap put in bridge

This is great!!!!

I hope it rains well this weekend so I can get an idea of what the level mean.

Nathan Proctor told me about the gauge on granny gap. I was pretty pumped to hear about it. Haven't seen the other two. Are they up and running yet?

The rains last night brought the forks up so I scouted the gages. Note the water color...it tells you what fork got the most rain. Here're the levels and pics to show what the creeks look like.


Illinois bayou gages March 31st, 2013 2pm

Scottsville 7.36

North fork 3.60

Mill Creek 9.49

Snow Creek 16.76

East Fork 12.25

North fork 3.6. Look at the foam pile!!

Mill Creek just upstream of the north fork. Kinda low.

Gage level 9.49

Snow Creek section of the Middle fork. The gage is about 1/2 way up on the road, just before the creek veers away from the road for the second time after the put in.

Looking downstream from the snow creek gage. The level is about what I would consider medium, good for eddy catching but not too pushy.

East fork, gage level 12.25. Looks like you can tell most of the water was coming down the middle and east forks. This section is not paddled much as the put in is waaay upstream and supposedly doesn't have the good stuff on the Nogo run.

After doing a couple of short runs on the snow creek section, I headed back to the north fork to the foam piles. A good way to end a great day on the water.

Me and Nathan did a couple of laps on the snow creek section starting about 3pm. Saw two other boaters runnin' solo. Weather was beautiful! Good to know that info about the gauge levels. I'm wondering if they've already taken all the data to calibrate them or if they will still have to do that some since they are new.
