Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue Course April 19-21

Post by OzarkTom » Thu Mar 28, 2013 10:11 pm

Hi Folks,

Steve Runnels and I will be offering another ACA L4 Swiftwater Rescue course April 19-21 in Fayetteville.

For those of you who have not taken our courses in the past, let me give you a quick description!

Friday evening we begin with orientation and some considerations on rescue philosophy. We then get directly into rescue ropes and knots. Saturday is ground work in the morning, where we try our hand at throw ropes and several other key skills.
After lunch, we take off to the river where we spend the rest of the day refining our methods and trying everything out.
For those of you who are easily bored by power point presentations and lecture, then this is the course for you! We believe that hands on is the best possible way to develop these types of skills.
Sunday is a continuation, and we will do a little more on dry land, and then right back to the river for practice dealing with strainers, pinned boats, entrapments and other rescue techniques that are critical knowledge for boaters.

Camping and the "bunkhouse" are available along with warm showers!

This program is being offered in conjunction with Ozarks Outdoors/University of the Ozarks

For more information and registration call Tom @ 479-595-1655 or email SwiftwaterRescue@gmail.com

The course fee is 125.00. Remember, if you are a NW chapter member there is still "Rescue course Rebate" money available!
