Cossatot-My 1st descent video

Post by Ztmoore84 » Wed Mar 20, 2013 12:58 pm

On February 23, I headed to the 'tot with the intention of just running Ed Banks to the Falls. I handled this section okay and was talked in to at least doing the Cossatosser. I then kept going and ended up paddling the entire Falls minus the Machine. It wasn't always pretty, but I managed to stay upright. Thanks to Walter, Heather, Chris, Mitch, Chicago Bob, Liz, and others who guided me down.

Nice video!

btw- that last rapid is Devils Hollow Rapid (not to be confused with Devils Hollow Falls). Deer Camp was earlier and is a bit more of a spread out boulder garden. Those two rocks your video shows you paddling between are the "horns" that give a landmark of where to aim as there's a lot of pin potential in there at low/moderate levels (she said from personal experience).

Maybe see you on some water this weekend...keeping fingers crossed!

You should be pleased - most folks would be quite happy to have such an "uneventful" first run down the Tot!

Zach, we were in the Shredder. I've got a good pic of you on Cosatosser. Shoot me a PM with your email and I'll send it to you. You had a great run. Good for you for stepping up your game.

That video has "how to" written all over it: way to show the lines through the falls.
Live in the active voice--passive is just too wordy.

Thanks for posting the vid. It's not often we get to see pics let alone video of those drops below the falls.

Very nice! Although you might be a little more careful about who you choose to boat with...That crew is sketchy. (Sarcasm showing in case someone misinteprets it)

Well, I admit we're a sketchy bunch...but that doesn't mean we don't make a fine personal first descent crew.

Speaking of which, I am toying with my own personal first descent this weekend....in a ww canoe...

Problem is, that might be more "eventful" than I care for! Wanna set some safety for me????
