Way OT: RIP Alvin Lee
"said watch out baby, baby I'm coming home"
had an album way back (loaned out & duh!, never returned) - Alvin w/ a Mississippi gospel singer, Mylon. Had George Harrison, Winwood, some other rockers on it too.
don't remember a lot except I wore the grooves off it and it was good enough to be ripped off by a friend
bet some of you Arkies still have the vinyl...

Re: Way OT: RIP Alvin Lee
Is this the same Alvin Lee in "Ten Years After"? Just curious. Oh, to answer your question, this Arkie doesn't have the vinyl, I've progressed to the cassette player.

Ditto Roger! I had the ' Ten Years After' album myself, and later athe cassette recording. Alvin Lee was in the same class with just a handfull of the very best guitar players of the late sixties and seventies, bar none. To qoute a phrase from earlier, country music hits, I ran a needle through B-56, when it came to this album, this artist, and band!
Sorry to hear this news, thanks Butch.

For all of you folks who know what we are talking about. It's only pertinent if you play or love or appreciate the music!

I looked for that video & couldn't find it - thanks Roger
forgot about that great split screen & Alvin walking off with that watermelon on his shoulder and a grin that kind of summed up what that era tried to be about
if I remember right the name Ten Years After referred to the progression music had gone thru during the decade after Buddy Holly's death - "Going Home" was a great homage to everyone from Berry & Didley to Hooker & Howlin Wolf
Lee was among the greats
