A Freshman won 1st place at his Junior High Science Fair . In his project , he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide" , an important Oil & Gas chemical . The reasons on the petition were factual: 1) can cause excessive sweating and vomiting 2)is a major component in acid rain 3) can cause severe burns in it's gaseous state 4) accidental inhalation can kill you 5) contributes to erosion 6) it can decrease the effectiveness of automobile brakes 7) it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients .
He ask 150 people if they would sign his petition and support a ban of "dihydrogen monoxide". The results - 143 said yes , 6 were undecided and only 1 knew that the chemical dihydrogen monoxide was WATER !
The title of his project was "How Gullible Are We ?" He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists spreading fear of everything in our environment . The conclusion was obvious .
I went paddling today . I'm glad it wasn't totally banned in the US of A .

I didn't say anything about fracking . I thought it was a funny ( & true ) story . You don't think people are gulible ? I've tried to stay away from the fracking post . I'm not looking for enemies . I might get to paddle with you someday and I'm not very good . You could probably drown me and it would look like it was my fault It just shows how people want to believe to worse , not just about oil & gas but EVERYTHING causes cancer or pollutes or causes your teeth & hair to fall out or something ! 143 out of 150 agreed to sign to ban water . I've probably got a warpped sense of humor but I think that's funny as hello I haven't met anyone in the ACC that I didn't like & just because we have a difference of opinion on some things don't mean I'm looking to make enemies . Not trying to rub you the wrong way Roger ( or anyone else ) just thought it was funny .

I love it bhk, but this is a paddling forum. Anyways, provocative thought is not welcomed in any venue these days, except in Newton county in the company of the last free people on Earth.
