Sunday/Monday Boating

Post by Opes » Fri Feb 15, 2013 11:17 am

Anybody getting out for a WW run on Sunday/Monday? Looking for some class 2/3. I am not real familiar with some of the runs that are currently at the optimal level according to the gauge.

I would love to come down and paddle something new. I am desperate for some moving water! I was headed to the St. Francis but it looks like the temps may be a little nicer in AR and the Saint is gonna be pretty low.

I was thinking about a low water Mulberry run but I am not sure what it would be like at this level.

Thanks!

Josh

I would be interested in a tomorrow or Sunday run somewhere if someone is willing to have a newbie along for the trip! (-:

I may very possibly be paddling the Mulberry on Sunday and/or Monday. I paddled from Hwy 23 to Campbell Cemetary last Saturday at 1.9 on the USGS gauge. Low but floatable - only had to portage once and there really wasn't an option. I might try a boney float down on Sunday and Monday. I'm in Little Rock and might be able to help with shuttle/logistics to anyone that may be interested. :canoe:

The lower Mulberry will be fine this weekend. Currently 2.7 and by Sunday it will be 2.5ish. Watch the Turner Bend gauge and not the USGS (it has been off this season). 2.5 is great for the lower section. Features are not washed out and there are still multiple lines, eddies, and waves.

I'll probably paddle from Wolf Pen down to a friend's cabin below Hoop N Holler. Possibly stay the night there and then paddle from there down to Turner Bend (Hwy 23). :canoe:

So any time or meeting place set for a Sunday run? I think I might have myself and maybe a couple others wanting to go as well. I also have a extended cab truck that I can help shuttle with if needed.

I was going to try and finish up repairing my raft frame on sunday and maybe get a test run in on monday on cadron or the ouachita. I don't know if the mulberry would be good for it? Id love to have someone to paddle with.

TurnerBend is a good place to meet & decide from there . You're traveling the farthest , what time is good for you ?
