Side note: It's amazing to me how much easier it is to paddle my canoe after all of the WW training we have been doing!

Cool. We have been wanting to paddle that section for a while now. Distance, timing and levels have been keeping us from it. What were the levels?

Hard to know. I think the gauge read 4.5'.. But it's too far downstream to be useful. Ernie at Kings River Outfitters knows when it's up. He loves to talk about the kings so you'll get good beta.

That was a great trip and was glad to get out on my first overnight of the season. Hopefully a good warm up for many more to come. Thanks for joining us, Liz and I usually float solo on down-river trips but that because there is a lack of people to join us.

@Nimrod, it was 4.5 when we put on and 3.86 when we took off. I use the gauge as a proxy (as I do all gauges). For that section I wait for the Kings to flood (happens regularly with moderate rain) and monitor when the Kings starts to drop as it drops consistently. I like to get on it from 6-4.5'

it may take a backhoe to get those chicken coups out. those have been there for a while! if someone comes up with a good plan, i'd be willing to help too.
