Hello fellow paddlers,

I am one of a group of 6 Baltimore Canoe Club paddlers who hope to paddle the Buffalo River in May. Can you suggest a *reliable* outfitter who can shuttle our cars and store them while we are on the river? Since I will be on a 6 month road trip, my minivan will have lot of stuff inside it; an outfitter that has secure vehicle storage is of primary importance.

Thank you in advance for your advice. I'm looking forward to revisiting Arkansas (we paddled the Current a few years ago).

I've always had great luck with Lost Valley Canoe. I have also used Buffalo Outdoor Center and have been pleased. Can't go wrong with either.

Really depends on what part of river you plan to float.

And if you call and decide your going to do a different section, I'm sure Mike Mills at Buffalo Outdoor Center can get you fixed up.

Here's a link to NPS website that lists all of the approved outfitters for the three sections. I would recommend that you contact your choice ahead of time and explain your needs. Pretty sure that they will do all they can to accommodate your situation.

I think that as a practice most outffiters leave your vehicle at their business parking lot and then deliver it on the day you take off the river, especially on mutli-day trips.

Also, I've been going to the river since 1974 and I've never had any vehicle security issues in all my trips. Knock on wood..

Don't have quite the experience as Roger, but for 10 years now everything has been safe and sound. These are all National Park concessionaires and they don't want to loose their license. Furthermore these are rural communities where everyone knows everyone (and probably related to some degree). This kinda rules out petty theft. I wouldn't leave a 100 dollar bill sitting on my front seat, but if I did I wouldn't be surprised if it was there at the takeout.
