ACC Winter Weekend March 1-3 2013

Post by OzarkTom » Thu Jan 10, 2013 12:22 am

Hi Folks,

Well, it's that time again! Make plans to come on out to the ACC winter weekend at Lake Fort Smith State Park!

Once again we have secured the Kingfisher Lodge for Friday afternoon March first, through Sunday morning March third.

There are rooms available in the lodge, and tent camping available in the park as well.
The cost is same as last year, only 25 dollars per adult for the weekend. This includes indoor accommodations in the lodge, breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings and all the fun you can stand!

The goal of the weekend is twofold, first we get to hang out with a bunch of great folks and either paddle the lake, or if we are lucky.. paddle the surrounding streams! Water that time of year is actually quite common, and the park is right next to the Frog Bayou, Clear Creek, West Ceder and numerous other great destinations as well as less than an hour from the Mulberry! The second reason is to do final planning and preparation for canoe school, as well as have our winter board meeting (which all ACC members are encouraged to attend!).

So come on out and be part of a great time in the Ozarks!

Here is the park website. Contact me by email (not the park!) for any questions concerning the lodge etc..

All rooms are currently full, but we do have a wait list, if you still want to come and spend the night, the great room (with large fireplace) is available for "group indoor camping".

I had a great time visiting with everyone.

We had a very productive meeting (wow, it lasted till midnight!) with a ton of great discussions.

I want to give special thanks to Adam and his team for the work they are doing on our next Canoe School. They are working over time with ideas to spice up the event for every one. Canoe School is a special time for all of us and it is good to see it keeping up with the times.

Thanks also to DeBo for her work and I hope everyone who loves the Buffalo will get behind her on the as she described it "The Swine Farm Operation" that has the potential to dump pig waste into the river. The danger is real and happening in real time.
