I drove over Cadron Creek today and it looked like it was at a runnable level....BUUUUT, I haven't run Cadron a whole lot, so someone else might want to put eyes on it before anyone heads out.

If gauge reads 1.3', then no. Based on previous experience.

I just seem to remember being able to see a log laying midstream, on the east side of the 65 bridge, when the water is low. I didn't see it today when I was driving over. But maybe I just missed it, or it got washed downstream. It was worth a shot!

Roger is correct, it is too low to run.

Rugger is correct - if you look at levels based on seeing the log from a distance, it "looks" high enough to run.

The difference is that there is a beaver dam adding between 6 and 12" of extra water to the pool height, covering up the log. You could easily paddle the pools, but I think you would have to get out of your boat at several shoals, or at least "gorilla walk" them. It might be worth it from a scenery perspective, but it wouldn't be your usual float trip.

rugger, I am desperate!! But I think the gauge is off in its correlation to the OWP numbers if that is what you are using. Went on a day where the level was 1.9 on the guage. Got there and it was low (gravel exposed) at the 65 takeout. Might be some scouring or other change in the gauge's area that impacts the reading

Now if we could get a weather event where we didn't have to even worry about gauges but if there was too much water!

Dragover is doable at current levels. If one is desperate, one can get down it at as low as 2 feet. Just does not have the play that the Cadron has.

Level us up a bit this morning and now "yellow" on OWP, but very good points by Roger. I went back and reviewed notes from my "trash runs" of Cadron during the early part of 2012, and found the lowest run I made was from Hwy 65, down to the Hwy 285, at 2.0 feet. The fact that these were "trash runs" relates to this discussion, because if my goal is to get tires and what not, I really didn't care if it was too low for good surfing and play, being able to see the bottom, extract stuff, and get a heavily loaded boat down the river without swamping was more important. One run above Hwy 65 at 2.2 or 2.3 noted that there was "no dragging", but also no good surfing. Most of the runs were in the high 2's or low 3's.

For those in the area, I think we're going to try to hit Gulpha in HS later today, although a time has not yet been set. Based on yesterdays readings, I think our best chance of catching a minor rise will be to go after noon, maybe a 1 PM launch, but I'm still lobbying others. No "official" time has been set.
