Looking forward to paddleing with all my old friends and many new ones. Y'all have a safe Christmas and New Years. Be careful on the roads - We could have some white stuff falling and there are lots of idiots out there who think they can drive 80MPH on it.

See you on a river or lake - Eric Esche

80 mph? Heck, in some places 40 mph is going to be excessive! Details are shifting a bit this morning about who-gets-what, but overall I'm convinced that this time the weather guru's have done a pretty good job of telling us several days out that something signficant is about to happen. This time I believe them; went out yesterday, pulled some of the junk out of my truck and replaced it with my portable winch, a selections of shovels, and a set of chains. (I haven't thrown in the chainsaw yet, but that is an oversight I think I'll correct before I leave the house.)

Rains haven't cooperated very much lately, but even if that continues I think in 2013 I still have a good shot at breaking a few personal records like "most days on the water with friends", "largest number of different friends paddled with during the year", and just "most days on the water".

But I REALLY only logged in to say, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

I found this place one day a couple years ago while Googling for Ouachita River beta. Jim Krueger was the first to respond to my impromptu request. I never have gotten that trip in, but I've met some really neat people and made some new friends. Can't wait to make more in 2013. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! :kayak: :canoe:
You come too.

My thermometer on the back porch here West of Benton is indicating 31 degrees presently. I noticed the rain is freezing on the Airstream and impliments parked outside. :beer2:

Best Regards

My wife and I drove in from northern Kentucky last night. We saw over 100 cars and trucks off the road. There was black ice along 440 near Little Rock Airport that took out dozens of vehicles. Including several trucks that ended up all the way across the road. The stretch of highway 5 from Benton to Hot Springs Village was particularly brutal. I hope the rain tonight and tomorrow will bring up some river levels. A happy New Year to all of my paddling friends. BOB
