Saline near Benton, Sat 12-22-12 (Report)

Some of us are meeting at Lyle Park tomorrow at noon. Exact put-in and take out will be determined there, but we are looking at a short float that will include at least some eddy lines and maybe a surf spot.

I know many of you will be engaged in the countdown of Christmas shopping, but additional company is welcome!

The section from Peeler Bend, down to Lyle Park, has some nice woodsy riffles and one good surf spot not too far above the North Fork Confluence. The gauge readings this evening are just under 4feet, so anything above Peeler may be more boney. I will check the board again in the morning and see what's developing around here.

As expected, it was a smaller group, just myself, Doug, Crash, and Jim. But we had fun!

In addition to the two tires you see in the photo, Jim also hauled five more tires away from the put-in.

Yesterday was such a beautiful day when we floated during the afternoon, the skies were crystal-clear, blue, and the river pretty clear and at a nice level! I made several pictures at the 'spin hole', but sitting across the stream, none of mine were nearly as good as the shot Doug made of Miss Mandy side-surfing, and spinning, good job Doug!

Go Crash! One day we'll be saying we knew her when. Hated to miss this one, but I was feeling off Saturday morning and my decision to skip it was vindicated when I tossed my cookies in the Kroger parking lot that afternoon.
