Whose in for tomorrow morning?
Whose in for tomorrow morning?
I want to go somewhere close in order to be back home in the afternoon. I'm thinking a short float or two down Gulpha Creek. A few paddle it today so I'm waiting to hear how it went. It got 2.5" of rain today and the gauge shows it flowing nicely. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?07358550" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It looked perfect from then road today.

Re: Whose in for tomorrow morning?
Where do you guys put in and take out?
Re: Whose in for tomorrow morning?
The put in is on Ridgeway street. You turn west onto ridgeway off of Westinghouse. Then go about a mile and you will cross a bridge (Gulpha Creek). Pass the bridge and the first house on the left is where we park. The elderly lady that lives there is very nice. Just knock on the door and ask her about parking there. The take out is the old 270 club bar. If coming from lakeside school Malvern, go under 270 and then over the bridge. Right after crossing the bridge turn right and then left over the tracks. Park in the vacant lot to the south of the bar after asking permission. Again a very nice owner that doesn't mind at all. There are several tight slots with some strainers. One spot has a tree across it that we were able to slip under. At other levels, you could possibly pass over it or in between levels it might require portage. The next time it's flowing, I'll get in touch with you.

Clay,
When we got to the large tree you talked about, I went over it and Jamie went under it, so looks like you wouldn't have to portage at any levels. When I went over it the first time, at 4.3, it had plent of water and I popped right over. One tree that I still really want to take care of is the tree hanging over that man-made looking ledge that causes us to go far river right. It's a really cool looking drop that has to be completely bypassed because of that tree. It was a little big for the handsaw last time, but hiking the railroad tracks with a small chainsaw could be pretty easy.
