Drinking water in Richland?

A friend of mine is taking a group of scouts hiking/camping in the Richland Creek watershed. If I understood his description right, they're heading up between the creeks that come together at Twin Devils Falls. He's worried there may not be enough water flowing to pump drinking water. Anyone been hiking up there recently to know if any water is available?

I do a lot of backpacking this time of year and have never had a hard time finding water. There is always a small puddle in a crevasse or hollow log. I would guarantee that the creek would have water in the pools. Although possibly not flowing, there will be water. In Arkansas, unless your drawing in from a road rut or are in eastern Ar, its going to be clear. I would however use a filter. With the recent rain, I'm sure there is a trickle. I've never had to hike more than a half mile to find water to drink here. Even in August.

Gauge shows about 2 feet and 28 CFS so there will be water. The just may have to hike around a bit to find the best spot to camp.

A good resource is the Waterfalls of Arkansas Facebook group. There are several who go on the Richland and Falling Water during the week to take photographs and they reference when the photo was taken. Both were running pretty good today. Not in terms of paddling, but for waterfalls!

The latest rain got water flowing through the Osage Gorge and filled up all the pools, the Buffalo is getting closer to draggable in the Ponca wilderness area, and even the small amount of rain forcast for the weekend could get us over the hump. Come on baby, I need some medicine, and I'm ready for a couple nights on the river!
