I wanted to check on the status of this weekend's Wattensaw trip? I'm coming off of three weeks of insane work hours and desperately need some recharging this weekend!
Also, assuming the float is a "go"...I'm curious to know if there is a set camp site we'll be going to, and if so, is it possible to hike over land to that site? I'd probably do the canoe float, but would also consider a walk through the woods and a rendezvous with campers.
Thanks!

Yes! The trip is on unless the weather turns bad but it looks like the forecast is still pretty good.
We will meet in Hazen at the T Ricks at exit 193 on I40 at 11:00AM on Saturday morning. We will put in at the upper boat ramp and paddle downstream about 2 and a half miles to our campsite. There is good short hike to see a small lake. This is across the river and just downstream of the boat ramp for those who are interested.
If I can get a good head count by Friday morning, I would like to do a group meal Saturday night.
We will paddle out on Sunday to the lower boat ramp. Hiking in to the campsite is also possible along an old railroad bed. I can post directions later if needed.
Please let me know if you are coming! It's going to be fun!

What if some want to paddle but not camp overnight? Is there a close takeout to where the ones will be camping?

Yes, you would be only about a mile from the middle boat ramp at Robbinwood.Karla wrote:What if some want to paddle but not camp overnight? Is there a close takeout to where the ones will be camping?

I have not heard any serious interest in camping so this may turn into a day trip if that is what everyone wants. That would be fine with me.

Just to clarify - Debbie knows this because we spoke at the Central Chapter meeting on Tuesday, but I unfortunately had forgotten that I made a commitment to help my neighbor with something this weekend.
So while I would be VERY interested in the overnight camping, I actually will need to stick close to home this weekend after all.
Bah.

Thanks Heather, I knew that you wanted to go but couldn't. There were a couple of others also with prior commitments. This time of year is difficult to take a whole weekend for most people.
Just got a pm that we have two takers for the campout. How about a few more?

Those who want to to hike in and camp with us should send me or Debo a text message; we'll send you the coordinates of where we'll be. I'm going to send them to Heather, Woody, and Debo in the next few minutes.
