BSA Camp Rockefeller 2013 - White River 50 miler

During BSA summer camp 2013, older scouts will be floating 50 miles over five days on the White River. Five weeks. Each week a new set of scouts. By the end of summer camp, this section of the White should be litter free. These are self contained canoe trips. We leave Camp Rockefeller Monday morning and return Friday each week.
Staff week - June 9-15 Camp: Five weeks June 23-July 27.

Should water conditions allow, we will float the Buffalo instead of the White. To be determined weekly.

I am looking for a few good men and women . . . who have the time and skills . . .

What's the age requirement? My son went to summer camp there last year and is going next summer.

Participating scouts must be 14 and first class. Also must be medically OK for high adventure and pass the swimmers test. It is desirable that they have the First Aid, Camping and Canoeing Merit Badges. We will also have at least two slots for adult leaders each week.

I am looking for potential staffers able to lead the trip who have or will be able the get the certification required for this activity to happen. Two we had in the past will be there in 2013. Not everyone has the time, interest and dedication to be the person we need. It is amazing how well we are able to staff camp given the demands. Great people.

Richard - what certifications exactly for these volunteers?

Hi Eric, At least one needs to have BSA Lifeguard certification. We are checking to see if other certifications are required since this will be a council operated activity lasting more than three days off council property.

BTW, in my former post I left out the word NOT. It should have read, "Two we had in the past will NOT be there in 2013"
