Thanks for scouting. I've been wanting to check out San Marcos as a possible retirement location.
Rio Vista looks perfect for me. :kayak:

That's a beautiful area. I have several friends who live around there. Wish I wasn't going to be working because I would load up and go with y'all!

I had the whole place to myself Saturday night. It's hard to beat this time of year! Watch out for the two barely submerged rocks on the river right eddy line. I spent some quality time getting up close and personal with them! :hammer2:

I lived there as a youth. Some interesting stories. Worked at Aquarena making 25ยข/hour putting bumper stickers on cars. Bumpers were much different then. Go Rattlers!

The water fall is 14 feet. It is safer if you drop off it without a paddle. You hike your boat up and seal launch off. Unfortunately it is not part of running the river. It's still fun! :D p

Tom, we get to paddle and camp for Thankgiving, so maybe we'll get to see you there? Are you camping somewhere?

Shady Grove.

The quiet-time enforcers. I got the speech, but the lady was VERY nice.

So how was T'giving at Rio Vista?
Is it worth a trip down there from AR? If so, I may have to check it out around Xmax.

Worth the short eight-hour trip (from Springdale) for sure.
My only problem, I am not experienced enough to ride a wave that size... The scenery, elephant ears, Cypress and cedar trees. An amazing winter getaway indeed.
