GENERAL INFORMATION

Welcome to the Bayou Chapter Ozark Society Introduction to Canoe and Kayak Clinic. We have lots of fun and learn basic paddle strokes, maneuvers, safety procedures and more, on calm water. We are an American Canoe Association Paddle America Club and this clinic is sanctioned by the American Canoe Association.

Our Introduction Course can prepare you for more advanced river training. All classes are taught by volunteer Certified Instructors who donate their time each year. The clinic will be held at Cypress-Black Bayou Recreation & Lake, Saturday, October 13th 2012. Classes in canoeing for tandem and solo along with recreational and river kayak begin at 8:00 AM. The instruction will be on land for the first part of the course with the second half “on the water” ending the day at 4:00 PM. It is open to persons 12 years or older, in average physical condition, and who are not hesitant about being near, on, or in the water. Anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Please read the instructions carefully and fill out the application. A separate application with an ACA Waiver and Release of Liability form must be completed for each participant. If paying by a single check for multiple applicants please submit all completed applications together and note on the check for which you are paying. If you want to be in the same class with someone, please make your request on your application and, if possible, send all applications together. We allow no more than 2 people per tandem canoe during the clinic.

Kayak/Canoe Rental Agreement & Release from Liability
I agree to be responsible for the kayak and if lost, stolen, or damaged due to my negligence I will pay the full value as per the Equipment Replacement Schedule: Kayak/Canoe - $700.00, Kayak/Canoe Paddle - $70.00, Life Jacket - $50.00
I have examined the kayak, paddle and life jacket and find the same to be in a safe condition of repair and seaworthy.
I agree to return the same in the same general condition.
I agree to return said kayak, paddles, and life jackets to the Ozark Society Bayou Chapter in good condition at
the expiration of the agreement period and to be responsible for any damage while in my possession.
I further agree to hold harmless Ozark Society Bayou Chapter of any and all claims growing out of the transportation or operation of this boat on land or on water during the period of this agreement.
I will not hold Ozark Society Bayou Chapter responsible for any loss, accident or injury of any member (minors included) in my party.
I FULLY UNDERSTAND that:(a) Paddle sports and related ACTIVITIES INVOLVE RISKS AND DANGERS OF DAMAGE TO PERSONAL PROPERTY AND SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, INCLUDING PERMANENT DISABILITY, PARALYSIS, AND DEATH ("RISKS"); (b) these Risks and dangers may be caused by my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others

I will not use intoxicants or drugs while on the canoe trip.
I understand that wearing a U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation device is an important safety precaution. If a member of my party is under thirteen (13) or a non-swimmer, a life jacket will be worn at all times while on the river. All renters will wear life jackets.
