ACC newsletter (for members)

Post by Lupe » Sun Sep 16, 2012 2:03 pm

Hi all,

We've heard that some folks who are signed up for electronic newsletter delivery may not be receiving it. The last newsletter was sent via email on 8/29 around 7am. If you didn't receive it, could you please check your junk or spam folder? If you are supposed to get the newsletter via email, you didn't receive it and you are sure it's not in your junk/spam folder, could you let us know so that we can check on it? The system we use to send the newsletter shows a very high delivery rate (over 95%) so I want to know if there are people not receiving it to investigate further. In addition to being in a junk/spam folder, we might have the wrong email on your account (if it's a working account but wrong, our stats will still record a successful delivery).

Note that if you are supposed to get the newsletter via "hardcopy" or snail mail, then you would not have been sent it via email. If you're not sure what newsletter preference you signed up for, go to the ACC home page and login to review your membership status and preferences.

I'd also like to know if you received the email with the link to the newsletter, but for some reason could not access it. It's in PDF format, and if for some reason there are certain browsers or configurations that can't access that format, then maybe that's something we can tweak to improve.

Please send an email about any problems about the above to membership@arkansascanoeclub.com

Thanks,
Heather and Maggie

Ryan,

Could you make this post a sticky, at least for the time being?

Thanks,
Maggie

FYI -

The newsletters are all posted in the Member section of the ACC website, so if you ever don't get it, or maybe want to go back and look at an old issue, just log in with your MEMBER login from the ACC HOME page (not to be confused with your message board login) and you can access the newsletter there.

We are hearing some folks say they receive the email, but don't seem to be able to open the file from the hyperlink that is in the email. If you have had this issue, any details you can provide about what happens would be helpful. The hyperlink is taking you directly to where the newsletter is stored on the ACC site. If it's not working, is the hyperlink disabled? Do you get an error message? Does it say access denied? Etc.

Thanks again

UPDATE:

One thing we discovered is that the version of PDF we had for the newsletter couldn't be accessed by some. We have changed the PDF version, and think this will help many who received the newsletter email, but couldn't access the file from the link. Thanks to Ryan Dugger our webmaster for jumping in to do some problem solving on this! If previously you couldn't access the newsletter via the link, we're hoping it will work for you (or at least more of you!) now!

Even with all our technology, glitches can happen, emails (as well as snail mail) can get lost, etc. We all want to make sure our members are getting the newsletter, so don't hesitate to contact Maggie as Membership chair, or Luke (Deuce) as newsletter editor, or really any board member with any concerns. Newsletter editor and Membership are both hard, hard jobs to do (speaking from experience!), so thank you to both of you for your contributions to our club!

Yes, it's all a volunteer effort (and you know that saying that you get what you pay for! :box: ), but the club really wants to provide the best service to our members as possible.

Thanks all

Heather, I can't thank you, Maggie and Ryan enough for helping sort this out. I'll ask Tom to sweeten your retirement package and give us a raise. :poke2:
You come too.
