Recreational opportunities at rendezvous

Post by Jeremy M » Sun Sep 09, 2012 8:18 pm

In looking back at all the posts about rendezvous, I noticed there wasn't anything for the recreational/touring kayakers. This event is for y'all too!!! But I'm gonna need some volunteers.

Need someone to coordinate a down river float from Remmel to rockport on Saturday.

Also, perhaps someone willing to lead a flat water paddle on lake Catherine. OOO can provide some boats for the flat water stuff so invite your non paddling friends!

I volunteer Jim Kruger to lead a downriver float!

I plan to tag along and hand out litter bags, then give everyone credit for partipating in the "Great Arkansas Cleanup" that is also happening Saturday.

If Jim can't do it, I've got his back!

Barring any family issues during the Rendezvous, I plan to be there and already planning to take some friends downriver who have never been on the stretch, so I'd be delighted to head up the trip on Saturday. We'll set a time a little later, and coordinate so everyone who wants to float can :D
One clevat, I spent the whole day at the hospital with my Mom today in ICU, I can only hope all will be better shortly...

Best Regards

Thanks Tim! I'm certainly looking forward to the Rendezvous, and the floating, and the visiting!

Jim Moose:

I plan to take my immediate, and some of my extended, family down the river on Rendezvous Saturday from Remmel to Rockport. Barring unforeseen bad weather (as my crew is a fair weather crowd), we will have 4 adults and 2 kids in 2 tandem canoes, 1 SOT Kayak, and 1 cross-over kayak. I will have a canoe trailer to assist with the shuttle and will have room for more boats.

We would love to join any other groups going down the river. We are flexible on the launch time, but I was shooting to leave shuttle from Rockport between 11- 11:30.

Looking forward to a great weekend on the lake and the river.

John,

That 11 am time sounds pretty good to meet everyone at The Ledge Boat ramp to consolidate and shuttle on up.
I think the water should be running early that day. I or one of the other group leaders will chime back in as time draws closer. If it's a nice weather day as you mention, I just know your family will really like the float!

Best Regards
Jim

Last time I looked we're supposed to get a cold front mid-week; low of 48 Wednesday night I think, then chamber of commerce weather as far as the eye can see. Clear and lower eighties for highs. I ordered that up for Team Fletch (and everyone else)! Little Deuce is about to pop. Her birthday is Friday, so she's taken to calling it Birthdayvous. Mr. Jim, I'll be glad to shuttle paddlers if necessary, and/or I can fit another tandem or probably a couple of yaks on my rack as well. Just let me know what you need if anything when the time comes.
You come too.

Thanks Luke,

I think the best wil be for all those of us leading and shuttleing to meet all the interested parties at the Ledge (rather than Couchdale) at an appointed time to consolidate and head up.

Best Regards
Jim

Looking forward to the trip. I'm going to bring something to paddle that has never been on this trip & will need to get off the river before the ledge.

Thanks Deuce, Chris and all the others who will be assisting with the float shuttle with the downriver trip on Saturday!
This has been a pretty tough last couple of weeks for me and Marlo, after more serious medical complications with my mother a week and a half ago, then a week in hospice, she passed from our sight on Monday evening. We had a very nice visitation last evening with so many friends and family members. This morning we laid her to rest next to DAD at Resthaven Memorial gardens in Central, Ar. (just south of Malvern) Today has been such a beautiful day in every respect. My Mom was just the most wonderful lady with a truley caring and accomplished life. In all the years I've been a paddler, and a canoe club member, she always enjoyed hearing of my adventures and about so many of my fellow paddling friends!
I truley think Marlo and I will look forward to floating on Saturday as planned, I think we need the outing and will certainly look forward to the companionship and good fellowship. Please let me know if the 11am meeting at the ledge is in keeping with what the majority of floaters would care to do. I can adjust otherwise but do need to coordinate with another couple not in the club this evening to set a time with them. I'll have truck and trailer Saturday to make the best use of the shuttle.

Best Regards
Jim

Jim,

My condolences to you and Marlo over the passing of your mother. I never had the pleasure of meeting her but have no doubt to the kind and loving character that she must have been! For it is evidenced through you, her son! A wonderful man you are and that a takes good upbringing and it is obvious that your parents did a good job. Hold your head high, enjoy the weekend and the time that you are able to paddle! Hope to talk over the next few days of Rendezvous as I always enjoy your company!
