ALERT! Major Strainer at Lower Screw Up on Richland

The old Sweet Gum tree that has stood watch through many a flood, scout, swim, and rescue from Lower Screw succumbed to the heavy wind that blew through on Friday night 7/7/2012 and is now a MAJOR strainer blocking any clear passage of Lower Screw Up on Richland. The trunk blocks the river right boof route and the top blocks Door Number 2 & 3. Its just a matter of time before we have a big enough rain for folks to head toward Richland and while you would have easily seen this strainer on your own scouting I thought it wise to and alert folks in advance just in case there was an errant mishap at Upper Screw Up, you'll need to portage on river right for now. Photos below.

I believe it's against the law to take a chainsaw into a wilderness area, without a special approval. Who is volunteering for the axe club?

Something tells me approval could be obtained, but if not, who has the chainsaw silencers?

That is a major removal! I'm free on weekends but no chainsaw just a body for help.

Ah true... Nothing mechanical allowed in wildernesses. Not even bicycles. When I used to do more volunteer work with the FS, they told us they fought wilderness fires without mechanical devices unless a fire crew was needed out west for a higher priority fire. And then they needed Congressional permission.

Does the ACC have relations with the USFS for creek cleanups and stuff?

If so, I'm sure they'd loan us a cross-cut saw to use :)

It's always nice to have a heads up for a river strainer. I remember the strainers years ago on Mulberry and Piney Creek. They are no more. There are not many wild places left in Arkansas, but this section of Richland Creek is designated wild. Looks like there are some other trees in the area that could fall in the river one day. Again, heads up for new river strainers are always appreciated. Truly, no offense intended to anyone here, just my point of view.
