I plan to redo the outfitting on a Super EZ. Any thoughts of the best equiment for hip pads and backbands? I recently installed Jackson hip pads in a boat and they seem to work well. I have used IR racket in the back bands.
Also I have removed the foot brace in this boat. I have tried happy feet in the past, but I have not had much luck with them working well for any length of time.
thanks in advance

Re: outfitting thoughts: hip pads, back band, feet
I have a suggestion but it's not exactly on the outfitting. I had a super and would suggest removing the seat and foaming it up b/c there's not much support under the seat. The bolts holding the seat in place some time crack and even pull through the plastic. I also put bigger washer on the bolt to help support the seat. Great boat but maybe a design flaw?? I'm also a big guy and wanted to remove any stress from the seat and hanger bolts as possible! As for a back band I believe IR make a after market one that I've seen in several boats including the Super EZ.
Thats my 2 cent rant! Hope that make sense and help with your quest.

Go with the Jackson backband kit if you can make it work in your boat. Backbands with rachets are great, but SUCK when the rachet is behind you. The Jackson kit can make you get snug in your boat.

It's good stuff.
I'm not sold on the happy feet, but they do also sell:

And no, I am not affiliated with Jackson kayaks.

Sean,
Thanks for the hints about the foam. I know about that. My first super ez which was a beautiful blue/white (ice today) died froma hull crack at the seat bolt. I would say it is a design flaw that was somewhat corrected in the ezg series but not finally solved until the Fuse. I may have sold you one of my former super ez. Prior to moving to TX in 2008, I went by super ez on this list.
MGood,
I will look at the Jackson outfitting again. As I recall the forward racket backbands are not recommended for boats not so originally equipped. Do you know anyone that has add the Jackson backband to a boat not originally equipped?
The racker in the back is not good.. I can never get it as tight as I would like.
thanks
