Terance,

The section of the Little Missouri all the floks are currently floating on various afternoons is very scenic but is mostly a fast-moving, whitewater float that wouldn't afford much slowing down to fish. The float is OK for people with less experience as long as you have some practice in moving water and have fairly good boat control. The main thing here is it's much better on this section safety-wise to go with a group of other boats and boaters, experienced or not. Another plus to going with the group is being able to get some informal instruction/pointers/ and support if you like.
Most of fishing that's done on this five-mile section is done by Trout or Smallmouth Bass fishermen who are fishing from the bank or wade-fishing when the water is down (not being released) They usually fiah in the area of the river there at Riverside Park, or the areas around the other three or four accesses down the river. One suggestion would be to watch for one of the group afternoon paddle trips to meet with and enjoy the WW float. But, you could get over to the river earlier in the day to do some fishing/ picnicing, etc. first, then be ready to meet the group for the float.
If you want to float this friday, and there's not a group going to the Little Missouri, I would recommend the five mile float on the Remmel Dam to Rockport section of the Ouachita (at Malvern) They will be releasing 1200cfs from the dam about 2p.m. which is fine for float-fishing. Earlier in the day the flow will only be about 230cfs, in which you can still get down the river but will require more picking your way around the rocks.

Best Regards
Jim
