Or is it a gauge glitch?

Yes,

They've been running 1200cfs during the weekday afternoons for several weeks now. I took my brother and kids on that section during the week recently. The 1200 is only a third of the weekend release rate but sure did beat taking them one day last year about this time when it was only running 230cfs.
In addition, we found that 1200 is enough to run the ledge at the end of the trip. I usually run the ledge on the left at the 3600 flow, avoiding the middle of the ledge due to the hydrolics however, at 1200 the middle proved to be the best route.

Best Regards
Jim

What I meant was, was it a 3800 CFS release? It appeared to be, but the graph didn't look quite normal. Your reply indicates it WAS a graphic/gauge glitch. Thanks.

I think it was real, not a gage glitch. I've seen this before - especially when thunderstorms are around. If they think heavy rains are about to hit the lake watershed, they'll start generating more or sometimes even open flood gates so as to not take any chances on lakeshore flooding. Its a small lake with not much holding capacity, so sometimes they try to outguess the weatherman and get ahead of the game.
