WTB break down paddle

Post by kayakmamma » Fri Aug 03, 2012 5:12 pm

Howdy, I'm in need of a break down paddle for white water kayaking. Anyone have one they'd be willing to part with?
Thanks!
Lorraine

Maybe try handpaddles? They're cheaper, lighter, smaller and give you a new way to have fun on the same old stuff.

Awesome hand-made handpaddles from the southeast.

Thanks Mgood, I actually need the paddle to kayak in Ecuador, and am unhappy about the $70 charge each way that a traditional paddle is going to cost me.
I do want hand paddles though! They are fun

I know they are not purely WW paddles, but I really like the Werner Coryvrechren (sp), 2-piece, bent-shaft paddles we've been using the last several years, really light and super strong.

Best Regards
Jim

I would strongly recommend the Werner four piece. I have an AquaBound Shread four piece we've been carrying for years, and while it has saved the day for a few folks I would not want to be stuck using it for very long. The Werner has better ferrules and overall better materials.

Dear Tom,
Hey, I've had that paddle in my boat before! A testimony to your awesome preparedness as leader and teacher of our group. I admit that I had to google "ferrules". Thanks for the great advice, as an Aqua Bound break down was a choice under consideration, which has now been eliminated.
Thank you!

This is a message from my friend Donna, who paddled in Costa Rica earlier this year, and took an Aquabound break down paddle to use:
She writed: "Yes, I broke an aquabound 4 pc fiber glass breakdown and it broke the first day (and the 1st time I ever used it). Aquabound replaced it free of charge and I upgraded to a carbon breakdown for an extra $40. I normally only carry it for safety purposes and paddle a werner".
