Fishers and Rockport?

Post by Fish » Fri Jul 20, 2012 1:38 pm

Any weekend whitewater in AR these days. Heading down from Kc with boats. What's the scoop?

Thanks,

The scoop is, short releases due to the dry weather!

Optimum play window is only a little over an hour long, although water-starved boaters will keep playing for at least a couple of hours, often more.

Any particular timing on the release and water at the ledge?

Fishers Ford is only good for people learning to get comfortable in a boat. Good swimming, bad boating!

They've been pretty good recently about turning it on at Noon.

At the ledge, the first hint the water is rising happens sometime around 2 or 2:15; by 2:30, many are in their boats and playing. It continues to improve until about 3:15 (ish), then remains stable until sometime around 4:30. By 5, many are getting out of the water again, but if you've been dry for awhile you can still have some fun playing even on the falling water.

These times are somewhat approximate since everyone has different opinions about "what's good". But if you're ready to paddle by 2:15 you won't miss anything at the ledge.
