Lost mine Campground? Nantahala

Post by tomOzarkVideo » Sat Jul 14, 2012 1:55 pm

After months of deliberation on where to stay out at the Nante, I'm thinking about staying at lost mine for at least 2 nights before venturing to a recommended site that shall remain a secret :shh:

Are there any other suggestions?

We're quiet and laid back. We'll be arriving late and have a day of private lessons at NOC the next morning. So rest, a shower and some quiet will be a priority for the first two nights.. Then, Whatever is clever for the other 4-5 nights :yahoo:

Any recommendations or feedback is appreciated.

Great place to stay. Can walk to NOC if you wish.

Annie and John are wonderful people. Fairly quiet place as they don't put up with stupid. Make sure you have reservations as they stay busy during the summer.

If you do stay, tell them that ROger and Kim said hi!

Can't walk to the NOC, but Tsali is about 10 miles away.

Great place to camp with showers etc. Bring some bikes or demo from the NOC.

Another spot to consider for the later nights is off Old River Road. There are some awesome spots right by the river and not much traffic up there. Even better is the fact that they're free. They're a little far from NOC - probably 12ish miles - but you can camp next to a couple pretty cool rapids.

We're staying at Turkey Creek Campground. I've never stayed there, but seen it recommended on here many times. When I looked at their facebook page and saw that they were picking berries and making fresh muffins for the campers, I called and made a reservation! lol

Turkey Creek campground has always worked out great for us...
-bathrooms are quite nice.
-the couple is easy going BUT they do enforce quiet time (10pm).
-her morning baked goods are good...

We'll probably move to turkey creek on Sunday if we stay near Bryson. May raft (and possibly kayak ) the Ocoee on Monday/Tuesday if we're up to the task.. Lot's of boatin' to do before that though.. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
