The water begins running again this week with an odd schedule of releases that ends up with three hours of three generators on Thursday and Friday. The releases start at 3:00 p.m. I can't make it on Friday, so Thursday is the day for me this week. This is a Class II five mile trip on cold water in the hot summertime. It is never hot on the water despite the air temperature. Full details of this section of the river can be found at

I need at least one other person/vehicle to be able to shuttle, so tell me if you plan to come. The trip won't happen unless I get a shuttle partner.

If the trip takes place, meet me at the take-out on West 13th Street in Murfreesboro at 2:00 p.m. Map shown below


I'll be leaving the parking lot at K-Mart on Rodney Parham in Little Rock at noon to make the two hour drive to Murfreesboro if you want to share a ride.

Mike this time I looked at the calendar and checked with my wife before posting. I'll be at the take out at 2pm. I saw the video from the last trip and was sorry I wasn't with you all, it all looked so fun in this dry year. Green Ford van with Mad River outrage on top. Looking forward to paddling together.

anyone from NWA thinking about doing down to meet up for some ICE cold whitewater on the little mo. i have been toying the idea ever since THE CAPTAIN posted. ...yes it's a long way ,but..it's cold and it is. flowing

I should have included the "big picture" for folks not familiar with some parts of Arkansas. I travelled the state for 30 years while working for the highway department and forget that everyone has not been so exposed. Here's an overview of where Murfreesboro is in Arkansas:



Hope this helps for general location; pick up a free highway department map if you don't have gps. If you do, here's the approximate coordinates of the take-out: 34.0858 N, 93.7081 W. I got them by using Google Earth and putting the cursor on the take-out.

Here's my cell # in case anyone has a problem I can help with 501-224-1868. I'll be leaving the K-Mart lot at noon. There's a slight delay in traffic on I-30 in the Malvern area; it will add 10 -15 minutes to the drive time. My phone has service in Murfreesboro, but not at the put-in or outside of town for about 50 miles; I don't know about service at the take-out. If you miss us at the take-out, you can catch us at the put-in or a little farther downstream. We won't be moving fast.
