Happy Retirement, Cowper!

Post by fryingsquirrel » Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:04 pm

Thursday is Cowper's last day as a working man, so I just figured I'd put up a quick congratulations.
Now you can concentrate of what matters most, paddling!
I tip my goofy river hat to you, sir.

Congratulations Cowper! I know you will enjoy the prospects of every new day all the more!
When I was in the military, there was a saying when a guy was reaching the last days of a particular course of training, or time in service, that he was 'getting shorter every day'. On the next to the last day I was at Ft. Benning all of one long and hot Summer, I was in the PX and the checker looked at me and said, " you must be getting short', I grinned and said " yep, I can barely see over the top of my shoe laces" :D

Best Regards
Jim

Wow Cowper, you sure didn't strike me as being anywhere near retirement age. Congratulations! Guess this means you'll be driving LOTS of shuttles now.
You come too.

Well of course I'm not! The first ten years it was actually my older evil twin brother who worked for the original AP&L down in Little Rock.

Dale - of all the job offers I've had since I told them I really, really was leaving - yours is the most appealing!

It was with great pleasure that I walked into my boss's office this afternoon to return some of the "company" equipment. I took my pager out of my pocket, removed the battery, and laid both objects on his desk. (Don't get me wrong - it was a friendly parting; I think he was more jealous than anything else...)

Thank you all - I'm really looking forward to tomorrow as the first day of the rest of my life! :yahoo:

P.S. - At least for a little while, I'm going to try to use my SPOT messenger more often to leave an evidence trail that I'm not sitting in that porch rocker. If you click the www link below, it will take you to a map that shows any messages I've sent out for the last seven days - for example, right now it shows you what time I reached the take-out at the Spring River following Rec School.

That's awesome!!

Retirement- Nothing to do and all day to do it. Sweet!!

Have you considered maybe doing something good to give back to the rivers and environment? Say, maybe pick up trash n stuff here and there every once and awhile? LOL
Or
You could just go shopping for a rocking chair.

Enjoy your new road of life!!!
Just living the liquid lifestyle!!!

I am soooo jealous!! I guess you know that just adds one more person to my list!! (My list of people that have more time to spend on the water paddling than I do). Think about us while you are catching the next wave. :kayak: Diane

Maybe that means you can go on the Buffalo River Clean Up WEDNESDAY 6-13-12. Wish I could be there, but the Cardiologist wants to see me again to go over the test results so far.
