Thursday is Cowper's last day as a working man, so I just figured I'd put up a quick congratulations.

When I was in the military, there was a saying when a guy was reaching the last days of a particular course of training, or time in service, that he was 'getting shorter every day'. On the next to the last day I was at Ft. Benning all of one long and hot Summer, I was in the PX and the checker looked at me and said, " you must be getting short', I grinned and said " yep, I can barely see over the top of my shoe laces"

Well of course I'm not! The first ten years it was actually my older evil twin brother who worked for the original AP&L down in Little Rock.

Dale - of all the job offers I've had since I told them I really, really was leaving - yours is the most appealing!

It was with great pleasure that I walked into my boss's office this afternoon to return some of the "company" equipment. I took my pager out of my pocket, removed the battery, and laid both objects on his desk. (Don't get me wrong - it was a friendly parting; I think he was more jealous than anything else...)

Thank you all - I'm really looking forward to tomorrow as the first day of the rest of my life!

P.S. - At least for a little while, I'm going to try to use my SPOT messenger more often to leave an evidence trail that I'm not sitting in that porch rocker. Have you considered maybe doing something good to give back to the rivers and environment? Say, maybe pick up trash n stuff here and there every once and awhile? LOL

You could just go shopping for a rocking chair.
