Remmel/Rockport on Monday (5/28)

Post by sig » Sun May 27, 2012 9:23 pm

After a weekend of kayak camping on Lake Ouachita* my wife and I are planning on floating Remmel/Rockport on Monday (5/28). This will be our first time on this run.

Correct me if I'm wrong please but it seems like the drill is to set up the shuttle at Rockport around 11-1130 and then head to the dam and wait for the water to rise?

Thanks!

*we claimed an island in the name of Sloth and proceeded to set up two hammocks and a tent and we didn't do much else the rest of the time there.

Yes, that is the normal routine. I'm sure there will be several making this float, though, I don't know specifics for tomorrow.

I'm trying to get there a little before 11, but, 11 or shortly after is more realistic.

I'll have space for two yaks, but passengers will have to ride in the back of the truck to the top. If you don't catch me there or are not keen on riding in the back of a camper shell in the summer with the fermenting weekend paddlers gear, then just go put in and look for me in the green raft when you get to the bottom. We'll make room for another driver going back to the top.

Sounds like a plan! We'll see you at the ledge parking lot at 11. We'll be driving the same vehicle you've seen at roll practice (maroon Subaru with one blue and one yellow boat on top). I'll PM you my phone number in case you need it.

Thanks again.

A big thank you to Tony Curtis for playing shuttle bunny.

If I recall, Tony Curtis played Spartacus as well...a big thanks for that too. 8)

We had a blast. Thanks to everyone for the good company, shuttle services, and taking time to help me get my first swims under my belt (c:
