WTB WW Boat for Petite Woman

Post by wpowell » Fri May 25, 2012 8:57 pm

I am looking for a solid kayak for my wife. She is a little girl weighing in at 115 lbs. She doesn't want a playboat. I'm thinking maybe a river runner like a LL little joe or a CR80. I have a WS big EZ that is in good shape (no canning or deep gouges, all the outfitting is strait) that I would trade or just pay cash for a good deal. Text me at 47nine88threefivethreeonefour. Thanks!

Look at the old town, otter....my friends wife is about the same size and she has been paddling it for many years now.

Sorry about that....I didn't see the WW in the ad (beer goggles)....there are several out there that would fit the bill...I guess the question would be: What does she paddle right now? What does she like and dislike about the boat? What is she trying to get out of her new boat and what would you rate her skill level.

The otter isn't a whitewater kayak. I would look for a Jackson Fun series boat. A "too fun" is more her size but she might like going up one size bigger, to the "fun" for a little more volume and stability. they are my new favorite boats to put beginners in. stable, fast, and easy to roll.
But there are many boats that would be fine for her, at her size, even playboats would be ok, if you get a higher volume one than maybe the recommended size for her. My friends son (when smaller) could paddle any of our boats and be so light in the water that he went everywhere and never flipped, but had a wake up call when he got a small boat his size, and suddenly had to pay attention to everything.
Thats my biased opinion for ya'
I've heard great things about the Liquid Logic XP boats, that might have more interest for you as well.
I have a fun and could meet ya' at the buffalo or somewhere near if you wanna try it out. I put a small girl in my dagger showdown and in my Jackson star and she did better in my star.
I have since, sold my showdown and bought a fun and a 4fun (too fun is next)

Thanks for the tips guys. My wife really enjoys her rec boat, sit in type, but wants to run with me and my son on class 2 and 3. I recently got my son a jackson fun and it is a perfect match for him. She likes his boat but she feels more comfortable in my sisters cr 125, hard to roll. She has only been down the Mulberry, mostly upper run. She is a smart paddler and knows how to avoid trouble. I just need to find her a stable boat that is easy to roll. I'd really like to put her in a remix-59 but i don't see many of those for sale, used anyway. I think she would be more comfortable in an xp 9 but again nothing used out there even on boatertalk. Thanks Again.

I've got a small Pyrhana Ammo that we need to get rid of. Whole package, boat, small diameter paddle, skirt, and helmet if you want it. Only used 2 or three times. In Conway, make an offer.
