ClanCrawford had a good time in MO.
Jack's Fork was very low and some shoals were a scrape down.
The Current had decent flow and was very scenic.
Cave Spring is now a favorite spot.
Did some site-seeing also. Very cool area. Many nice springs to visit. Will definitely go back when there is more water.
Many thanks to Louis C for providing info on camping and paddling in the area.

Sorry I missed y'all. I floated Spring River on Saturday with Chester, then again on Monday with Tim from Beebe. Both were good trips. Spring River seems lower than I've seen it in ages.
Are y'all gonna be at Rec school?

Yep, we're gonna be there. Should get there sometime after lunch (early to mid afternoon). Got a camper cabin. Weather is supposed to be nice. Pray/hope for some rain between now and then.

I'm so looking forward to Rec School. So many folks I can't wait to meet. Taking Friday off and going up a little early. Probably won't bring any fly rods, but I might be found somewhere along the bank at Riverside with a spinning rig in my hand in hopes of catching a wayward Walleye or two. I know it's not exactly prime time for 'em, but one never knows.
You come too.

If anyone wants to paddle Thursday or Friday morning, give me a shout!
I'd like to run it one more time before Rec school.
Deuce--a big walleye was caught right in the curve at Dead Man's last week. Small mouth & trout there, also...

Cool. I'm thinking this time of year my best bet for eyes is a nightcrawler. Thoughts?Wildwood wrote:If anyone wants to paddle Thursday or Friday morning, give me a shout!I'd like to run it one more time before Rec school.

Re: Jack's Fork and Current Rivers 5/24-5/26 and 5/27?
Luke,
Over the years of teaching at Rec. School, Marlo and I started staying at Riverside an extra night to relax after the school, and to have some time to fish. We basically were going after a few trout to bring home. After trying the live bait route, we now mostly use smaller multi-colored spinners. We normally
wade into the river at the pavilion and work down the left side a couple hundred yards and have done pretty well on the rainbows. About three years ago we were doing this, had several trout in the box and were about to call it enough when, bam, Marlo drags in a 4lb. Walleye to add to the mess
.
If I'm up there again to fish sometime, I have been wanting to take the kayak down to that first ledge/rapid below Riverside, park the boat below and try there. I would also like to try the ledge/rapid about half a mile above Riverside.
Good luck, have a fun weekend.
Best Regards
Jim
