upper buffalo swimming holes

Post by nathan richard » Tue May 15, 2012 9:23 am

my family has a cabin reserved in Ponca this weekend.
i figure we'll try to find a good swimming hole since we can't really float right now. i know that the Pruitt access and the Ozark Campground would probably be good, but i'm wondering if anyone could reccommend a lesser known spot we could reach with a short hike. we could also put in somewhere and paddle up/down a little ways. Looking for a deep hole if there's any left.
Thanks!

Nathan,

There is a swimming hole right there on the upstream side of the Ponca low-water bridge or you could float/drag down stream a short distance and find others at the base of the bluffs. You could also drive around to the Steel Creek
CG and probably find some nice swimming at the base of those bluffs lining the campground.

Best Regards
Jim

I found this soon after I moved to Arkansas and thought it was neat. Of course, whether or not you 'skinny' dip is up to youze!!

Thanks for the tip on Pearly Spring Hole! We went Friday afternoon and it was great. Still cool and over 6' deep in some spots. Real nice.
