based on the current gage reading, my bet is pretty low!

depending on where you are on the river, some rocky shoals to
drag over.

Be aware this is Arkansas Canoe Club Canoe School weekend so there will be
a bunch of people on the river and local camp grounds.

Vortex, you may be better off starting your own threads. I can't speak for everyone else, but I get a little confuzzed sometimes when trying to figure out who's asking what. Just a thought. Now, as Okieboater says the Spring is nice and is always running since it's spring fed, and there are some fat sassy trout in it. Just be aware there are some hazards that will require some pretty good boat control; a few falls and strainers. They're not anything major, just something you should know about in advance since you're planning to paddle with your family as I recall. Also, about the only camping to be had is in private campgrounds, which I think you're trying to avoid. Not sure who told you the White was low, but there's plenty of water for you guys right now, at least down around Calico Rock. It's currently just under five feet, which is perfect for floating and fishing. Click this link and hover your cursor over the dot at the top center to see updated levels. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/rt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You come too.

Ha! That's awesome. See, I told you I was confuzzed. That's a regular occurrence though according to Mrs. Deuce.

Allow me to butt in, even if I'm not sure what thread this is or who I'm talking to... :grin:

If you're looking for 1) moving water 2) limited crowds 3) fishing and maybe 4) someone who knows the river well enough to help keep the trip as safe as safe can be, then go find Chester's post and join him and Captain Aleve on the Spring river this Saturday. Once you know the area, go again on Sunday to make a full weekend of it.

Normally I wouldn't recommend the Spring to any family in summer due to crowds and wild party behavior. In winter, the outfitters are closed and access is limited. But right now, you have a pre-season window of opportunity that will make it worth the longer drive.
