Gonna float the spring river on sunday. Meet at Spring River Oaks at 11am approximately. It should be warm and nice(lack of all the crazies should be nice). A couple of people have already tentativly signed up. We should have shuttle set-up. At the very least, there will be plenty of water, abundance of sunshine, and fun. If you've never experienced the spring without the crowds, you should join us. PM me or post on here if you want to join.

Darn it!! I was at Hardy all last week, and will be back up there Monday. I'd love to float with y'all but am gonna do the Buffy with Eric. I'm trying to find someone who will go with me from Spring River Oaks to Hardy park. I've only been from Dam #3 to Spring River Oaks, but have bought a lot on the river just upstream of South Fork/Spring River junction.
Y'all have a good time.

OMG, what a very different Spring River! Doug, Toby, Debo, and I just had a WONDERFUL, lazy day on the Spring yesterday! I think it was after 3 before we made it from the dam down to Riverside, where we decided to pick up the pace a little bit so we could get off before dark. Also at Riverside, a Game and Fish truck comes rushing up, and a young lady steps out... we're thinking, ut-oh, what did we do? Is it the trash in the not-mesh bag, fishing license check, what? Nope - she had been sent out to do surveys and interview river users, and we were just the only folks she had seen for a long time, so she was trying to catch us before we shoved off and headed downriver!
Weather was warm enough to swim if you wanted to, but not so hot that you had to. We saw one other boat all day - a raft with four folks.
No crowds. No crazyiness. Maybe a dozen fishermen all day. Just a nice quiet float, with Toby pulling out a few trout for inspection before returning them to the river, and of course me and DeBo catching and chasing a few long skinny animals ourselves. (And of course I pulled out a couple of tires and some other trash.)
Spring River Oaks reported that even on Saturday, they only put about 6 boats in the water all day.
I strongly encourage anyone who wants to see the Spring before the summer partying scene starts to head up that way before Memorial Day weekend - you have a window of opportunity to see and enjoy a very different Spring river!
Chester and Mike C are headed up next weekend - if you're not headed to Canoe School, check it out with them!

I Learn something new on every trip.
1. Never bring "just enough" cold ones
2. When Cowper is whispering and pointing, it normally is due to a snake. (stay away from him when he's acting this way!)
3. Always float the Spring River the last weekend in April.

Ha, that is a nice surf.
I am hoping to run the Spring River a couple days before WW school. Is there opportunites for gravel bar camping on the Spring?
Who would you recommend for shuttle service?
Thanks,
Josh
