King River advice for day trip tomorrow, 4/28

Post by Alli G 1 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 4:37 pm

Hi everybody, Alli G here!

A few friends and I are planning to head out for a Kings River day paddle tomorrow, 4/28. Just thought I'd post up for any advice on put-in/take out. We're wanting to do 4-5 hours or so. Any joiners are also welcome (although I'm unsure what time we're heading out yet).

A quick thanks, also, to Eric E. and Richard. I've had two great trips, one on Big Sugar and one on the Buffalo, and they've both taught me some invaluable lessons! I'm addicted!

Cheers,
Alli

Howdy Alli G
I know it's too late as you are probably on the river already. But next time, Call Ernie at Kings River Outfitters. He knows all the places on the kings. He's located at Trigger Gap on the Kings. Always happy to help and very knowledgeable on the Kings. he also has a small campground, rents canoes, and does shuttle runs. And a good artist as well!
and let me know, next time you want to go paddling, as I am free when others usually are not.
I'm close to the upper Buffalo and Kings river, but drive alot to hit the rivers, although usually in a WW boat, I also have a solo canoe. I am starting over after being hit head on, on the highway. and am slowly working my way back up the river classes. but after being told I would never paddle again, I was determined to prove the Dr's wrong! So far only up to class II+ but just happy to be on the water! ( being in a wheelchair for a year and a half really sucked) and after I learned to walk again and before dr cleared me to paddle, I started hiking the upper Buffalo area. and really enjoy it. so when there's "no water" anywhere and you wanna get out, that's an option. it was the Arkansas Waterfalls book that got me started (and hooked)
Arkansas boaters are the best, You have a great advantage being on here and getting help from very experienced, knowledgeable people ( ALWAYS willing to help). I got this help when I was new, and happy to help/teach or give advice to whoever just like the help I got when new to this community. early on I was shocked at how helpful everyone was, even if they didn't know you. even the pro kayakers that I have met are like that as well, I think I would paddle even if I didn't like paddling very much, Just to have the chance to hang out with such a great group of people.
