Re: found pinned boat on a ark river
Thanks for trying to do the right thing on this!
There is one post about a pinned kayak on the Cossatot, but I doubt that matches since the 'tot has been too low for good floating since about April 5. I understand your desire to insure the boat is claimed only by the true owner, but if you could share a few more details, then there is a better chance someone would know who to ask in order to help track down the owner. On the Piney, the Moores probably know, for example.
If you could tell us the river and the boat type, while keeping other details secret, then I think we would have a much better chance of helping you in your quest.

Re: found pinned boat on a ark river
I had a blue and white pelican pursuit 100 get pinned under the ed banks bridge on the cossatot on March 10th. I figure it has washed down river by now though.
Re: found pinned boat on a ark river
This is a canoe that was just found on the Buffalo, it couldn't have been in the water too long maybe just a couple of days. We feel that it was left pinned and the owners couldn't get it out.

Re: found pinned boat on a ark river
That helps!
Painter Bob will most likely see this post; he works with one of the outfitters on the Buffalo and will know the best contacts. Since the Buffy is over 120 miles long, there are many outfitters; I suggest you send a PM to Bob with what stretch of river the boat was found on; he will know the outfitters that frequent that stretch and could probably narrow it down to two or three to talk to.
Also, I'd be very surprised if someone lost a canoe on the Buffalo and didn't take the time to report it to the National Park folks. I'd start by calling the Tyler Bend Info Center at (870) 439-2502
or, one of the other numbers listed here:
http://www.nps.gov/buff/contacts.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Since you think you found it shortly after it was pinned, I'd call the NPS again even if you talked to them previously. It may have taken the owner a few days to think it through and turn in a report, so even if the NPS hadn't heard anything earlier, they might know something now.
Good Luck!

Re: found pinned boat on a ark river
Tracy from the NPS did some checking today, and believes she knows which floaters lost this boat. Sherri, please call Tracy Whitiker at (870) 439-2502 to discuss details with her, and let us know the results!

Re: found pinned boat on a ark river
We have spoke to the owers, who are from Wisconsin! And I thought we had to drive a long way (mississippi). They just want us to give it to the Rangers at the Buffalo. I guess we will have to get another float in. Oh by the way the owners are still looking for their paddles. I told him we didn't see any. Sherri

RE: Paddles
Where were they when they lost the canoe? Do you know when they lost it?
In the last 10 days I have been twice Tyler Bend to Gilbert and twice Hwy 14 to Rush. No sign of the paddles any of those times.
