Lost kayak on Cossatot
Went kayaking on the Cossatot from Hwy 246 to Ed Banks bridge in March. Blue and white Pelican recreational kayak got pinned under the bridge. Thankfully the guy was fine. I left my number with the state park if it turns up.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Lost kayak on Cossatot
Just saw your message. We found a white and blue rec kayak below the falls around a month (or two) ago on our way down to devils hollows falls. Boat had taken a beating in the falls and we were wondering what had happened to the owner. We unpinned the boat, and were floating it downstream behind us when suddenly it caught an eddyline, flipped, and SANK. Have never, ever seen a kayak completely sink, but that sucker did in a heartbeat.
The tot was at around 7 feet at this point, so I can't give you any landmarks. The boat should be visible by now- I'd go out and hike around a mile down the river from the end of the falls. The boat should be above deer camp rapid.
Tried to help- that's got to count for something, right?

Sounds like a recovery expedition is in order.

I'm down. We were on the river two weeks ago and i looked for this kayak. No one in our group saw it though. We went from Ed Banks to the falls. The level was just under 3.5 when we started. I was hoping to find that boat though.
Henry Ford said "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have asked for faster horses."

Re: Lost kayak on Cossatot
This sounds more like a late summer expedition, that needs to be combined with a trip for one of the Cossatot Clean Up days. If the boat wasn't visible at 3.5', then we need to be looking in the pools when the river is too low to float.
You know that normally I'd be all over this, but I may need to catch a ride down there with you - my kayak-recovery gas fund is running kind of low this month... and as long as I'm begging, can you spring for some
too???

I'm in. Boat/hike from the falls to the park. Maybe we can get more treasure than we did on the cleanup last year.
Let me kow when I need to gas up the truck and ice down the beer.

Thanks for the updates guys! Maybe it will turn up this summer when the river is low. I figured it was long gone by now.

Re: Lost kayak on Cossatot
I'd bet the boat would be visible at 4 feet or below.
Remember, I said it was BELOW the falls. The group that ran Ed banks to the falls wouldn't see it.
Happy hunting.
