Marlo and I are planning on making a first run of the year on the Caddo tomorrow. The level should be around 7 feet, it should be just a great day!
We are planning to meet interested parties under the Glenwood bridge by 10:45
then head up to either the Narrows or Swinging Bridge depending on preferences. Bring your lunch and join in.
Best Regards
Jim

Chris,
We'll see you in the morning, I think it will be a good float. We'll look forward to a visit after the long Fall and Winter!
Best Regards

Ann,
I think the Caddo will be fine for you tomorrow if you should like to come, the level is dropping and will probably continue overnight. If we don't see you in the morning, we will have several more trips fairly soon.
Best Regards
Jim

We decided this may be a little much for a newbie. Have fun.
Hi Jim,
My son and daughter-in-law want to go canoeing tomorrow.
Mellisa has never been in a canoe before.
David is inexperienced.
Should we try to join you.
Richard

Wally,
Yes, we will be meeting at the Glenwood Bridge about 10:45, shuttleing up to the Narrows or Swinging Bridge for a put-in, then back to the Glenwood bridge.
Clint,
It will be good to see you again and visit!
Richard,
The float will be fairly easy on the scale of many of the harder WW streams but still class II, cold water, and not the best suited for an inexperienced paddler. One of the outfitters up on the Caddo emailed me last weekend with the report of a young lady who had very nearly drowned (at the 6ft. level) last weekend, so tomorrow I hope to survey the river for any hazards or areas where caution may be advised. The weather and water look good however I am certainly wearing a wet suit and taking a dry top along.
Best Regards
Jim

Enjoyed visiting with old friend and making some new ones. Thanks to all who were along to make it a good day.

Chris, Happy Birthday a day late!!! I know you had a good time if it was with Mr. Moose & Miss Marlo.
I also celebrated my birthday paddling--with 20+ folks at Pinnacle on the New Year's Hot Apple Cider float. (And that was after paddling New Year's Eve on the Buffalo with another group.)
See ya at Rec School...

Thanks for coming along to everyone yesterday! Our group of twelve were treated to a very nice run! It was such a pretty blue sky day, warm, and with the Caddo at about 7 feet, just a great float. At this level, the waves/rapids are as big as they get prior to being washed-out. One wave trough at 'Lunchtime Rapid' seemed 4 feet deep from the kayak perspective
While there will always be some downed wood along the river, I thought the whole section we floated was pretty much swept clean and open. We had one swimmer yesterday at 'Church Camp Rapid' only because he took on too much water in the drop
Before we left the area yesterday, I stopped by to visit with our outfitter friends at the Glenwood Bridge to offer a trip/ river condition summary, and to find out more about the young lady that had an incident last weekend while kayaking. Gayla had checked in on her earlier in the week and she was doing just fine. I was initially concerned she had pinned somewhere along the way but it turns out she had just tumped, maybe on an eddy line, and had ingested some water from the shock of turning over.
As the Spring goes on, we will be trying to float the Caddo as much as we can. We'll look forward to many more fun trips!
Best Regards
Jim
