Trip report -falling water 7ft.
Trip report -falling water 7ft.
A great time was had today on Falling Water at a level correlating 7ft on the Richland gauge. Our two young guns, Avery and Aaron made it look like child's play. I was very impressed with them. I must say though , 7 ft on that gauge makes Falling Water one heck of a ride and some big ol holes!
Finished it off with a 2 mile hike to Pedestal rocks. Got some worn out boys, including me!

We Put in right at the base of the falls and ran to Richland take out bridge. Then we ran Hurricane today. Another grea day on the river. Avery has 3 three new creeks under his belt in the last 3 days and I have 2. I love Spring Break!!!!! Little Mill, Falling Water, and Hurricane! Maybe they will have to write about their Spring Break travels (downstream!)

Re: Trip report -falling water 7ft.
I was Super impressed by those two little dudes yesterday!!
Between Aaron Punching a Monstrosity of a Man-Eating Hole in the Mouth, and then Avery taking that perfect line, no-hesitation, flying boof over the most killer rapid of the run, those two were putting on a Clinic! (and I was taking copious notes on how to be a Bad-A kayaker from them!)
And what a run that is at that level! I've always thought Falling Water was a bit of a drag, but at that level it was a heck of a ride!

Re: Trip report -falling water 7ft.
Thanks John! He is still replaying that in his head. We went back and ran it again on Friday and looked at his boof rock which was then 14 inches out of water and it sticks straight up. He caught a boof off of the big pillow of water ramping over it. It was a much easier rapid with 2 feet less water in it! LOL We ran Hurricane on Thursday and decided to hit Falling water again on Friday at about 5 feet on the gauge and it was still fun then. That left slot around that big rock where you got pinned looked nasty. I can't wait to get him on Richland. I think that Falling water run was a dang good test.
I had fun paddling with ya.

Enjoyed paddling with you guys Friday! I wish you guys could have stayed because Upper Richland was a perfect level for Avery's first time down. There was a lot of folks there and perfect weather as well. Hope to see you soon!

Re: Trip report -falling water 7ft.
We decided not to paddle that day...and after the stories I heard I'm glad we chose not too. We looked at both the creeks and decided a day of drinkin' by the fire sounded better than risking life and limb. Glad the AT paddle got back to the owner
We did have a good time with 5 of us on Falling water and upper Richland the next day at lower levels
