Anyone going to be on the river next weekend? When, where?

We are planning a trip to float the lower Buffaloon Saturday, March 24, putting in at Buffalo Point and taking out at Rush Landing. We would like some company.

What time are y'all thinking of putting in? Are you gonna put in at the bridge? If water is not too high, I'm interested. It was a great day on the Buffy last Saturday.

Putting in at Highway 14 bridge is fine. Any time around around 9:30 or 10 am.
We will wait for you. May be you can lead us. Once the trip is finalised, I will let you know my email address and phone #.

How long is the float between Hwy 14 and Buffalo Point?

Of course, it depends on the rain we may get. If the gage is much over 6.5, I may not go.

Hwy 14 bridge (Dillard's Ferry) to Buffalo Point is about 1.5 miles. From the bridge to Rush is 8.9 miles. It took us a bit over 3 hours Saturday.

I'll keep watching the weather & hoping . . .

Jan, we will follow your lead. I know that you have a lot of experience. Let keep an eye on the weather. We agree that we should not put in if the water is too high. We shall make a final decision on Friday morning. Thanks.

Where exactly do you meet up to plan the shuttle? Noah has a soccer game scheduled for Sat. morning, but if it rains too much, they will cancel it to avoid messing up the fields too terribly. If they cancel, this would be a nice float, I think. Caitlin, Noah, and I have floated the upper (once) and the middle Buffalo several times. We have never floated the lower before. It would be a great opportunity to see you again, Jan, and it's always nice to meet new friends (The Yeungs) as well. Keep posting.

Sandy,
We usually meet at the put in to unload boats and decide the shuttle. There is good parking at both the put in and the takeout. The put in is not in real good shape for 2-wheel drive, but it will work out just fine since it's not far to the water. We got back up the hill with 4-wheel drive last week. I'll check to see the shuttle distance and keep watch on the water level.

Jan, At the current time the Buffalo is at flood stage and the river is closed per Harriet gauge. We doubt that the river will recede to safe levels so we will not be kayaking. Hopefully, we will meet on the river another time. Thanks, Tonny

Yes, it's too high. I watched it go down about 5' today but doubt that it will be <10' by Saturday. If it does go down to a safer level . . .

Stay in touch, it will all work out another time. I look forward to see in all of you soon.
